Caring For Your Floral Arrangement

Caring for your Floral Arrangement :
Nothing brings beauty and vibrancy into a room like a well-crafted floral arrangement. Flower arrangements can last from 5-7 days, or longer, depending on the type of flowers chosen and the care they receive. Try our expert tips to keep your arrangement looking fresh and lovely for longer :

  • If your arrangement comes in a vase, ensure that it’s filled with water mixed with the floral food package provided. If your arrangement comes in floral foam, keep the foam thoroughly soaked in a water and floral food solution. Floral food contains additives that are specially balanced to provide nourishment to your flowers while preventing bacterial growth that could shorten your arrangement’s lifespan.
  • Be sure to follow the package’s instructions as improperly mixed or diluted floral food can harm your flowers.
  • If the mixture becomes cloudy, replace it immediately and re-trim your flowers, removing 1-2 inches from the stems before placing them in the new solution.
  • Place your flowers in a cool location. The best temperature range for ensuring your flowers’ longevity is between 65-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Never place your flowers in direct sunlight or in the path of hot or cold air from vents, radiators, or ceiling fans. Avoid placing them on top of heat-producing appliances such as televisions, which could dry them out prematurely.
Caring for Loose Bunches or Boxed Flowers :
  • Place your flowers in a floral food solution as soon as possible. If you can’t do this right away, keep them in a cool place to minimize damage.
  • A clean vase will ensure that your flowers stay fresh, so make sure that the one you select has been thoroughly washed with detergent or an anti-bacterial solution.
  • Fill your vase with water and mix in the floral food according to the package’s instructions. Leaves can promote bacterial growth in water, so remove any leaves that will be below the waterline before placing your flowers in the vase.
  • Cutting 1-2 inches off the stems at a 45 degree angle before placing flowers in the vase will help them to soak up more water and remain fresh for longer.
  • If any flowers begin to wilt, be sure to remove them from the vase as they can emit ethylene, affecting the freshness of other flowers.
Caring for Your Plants :
With benefits ranging from improving indoor air quality to relieving stress and even boosting creativity, plants make an excellent addition to your home or office.
We’ll always provide you with specific advice on caring for your particular plant type but these general tips can also enhance your plant’s health and longevity :

  • Most plants thrive at temperatures of 60-75 degrees Fahrenheit. In higher temperatures, you can maintain your plant’s health by misting the leaves with water.
  • Place your plant in a spot that receives natural light but keep it out of direct sunlight.
  • Rotate your plant’s position frequently, for even light exposure.
  • Maintain the moisture of your plant’s soil but avoid excessive watering. Regularly leaving your plant in standing water can reduce its oxygen supply.
  • Plants growing in closed containers without drainage holes generally require less water.
Following these simple steps will keep your floral arrangement or plant in prime condition, allowing you to enjoy them for as long as possible.
